andymorley's pomes | A POET'S LAMENT

The Saxophone blew its wailing gasp,
The skinny singer soared to tell
How right before them from the grasp
Of fading love a sad girl fell.

I looked, I saw, could not ignore,
The tragedy upon that floor -
For I had once been like that guy -
I'd almost let such loving die...

So should I speak amidst the shriek,
Explain to strangers' dull disdain
How raw emotion's tragic leak,
Ignored like that would bring such pain...

Down the old Victoria one Christmas time so long ago,
I'd sat with friends, a stranger came, drew me aside said did I know?
That girl of yours if you ignore her any more she may explore
Some other options may arise, some other guy may charm her more....

But this was not the same event
And so I took my own girl's hand,
The cast and stage were different
We kissed and stood to watch the band.

(you need lotsa bandwidth for this or it will take forever...)

I was down the pub, watching a band when I noticed a cute 20-something girl in the process of falling out with her boyfriend. It reminded me of something that had once happened to me. That time, some passing stranger came and told me something that caught my attention. Nobody said anything to this guy and nor did I.
