One day a tile may fall down from a
roof,
To smash your skull when nothing you could do
Could stop it, and yet strangely that's the proof,
Life's consequences are all down to you.
This may
well make you frown and disagree,
Because of other players in Luck's game;
And angrily ask how we could foresee
Whose negligence or fault might be to blame...
Unjust,
unfair, misfortune's darts and slings,
Afflict you just like any other soul,
Blame enemies or Fate for evil things,
Still YOU lose when Luck comes to take its toll.
Fortune
always will be a fickle friend,
And sometimes, sooner than you planned, will end...
