andymorley's pomes | BERLIN

Berlin sin bin done, other where, never there,
Would like quite might travel to, pass through,
Third man, tin can alley jazz in La Paz
Now gone moved on, Russian spy catching rye...

Music street, German beat, tanks, steel, Ferris wheel,
Passing planes may come again, squashed dude, ton of food,
Tearing sound walls come down, high-arched gate escaping fate,
Bodies shot in lines of wire will cleanse themselves with secret fire.

So what is now, and tell me how, it will be if there with me,
And should I go through flurried snow to find a bland city land
Or keep away so I can play my Berlin games from far away?
Place, space, in my face would you go through if it were you?

Berlin is perhaps the definitive city that most people have never
been to in the flesh but often through books and the movies.
If it is such a metaphor city for you, you have to ask yourself what
it stands for in your own life...
